-Muslims included the concept of worship prevalent in China in their customs
Beijing (EMS). China’s Muslims and other minorities are fed up with the government’s atrocities. China is increasingly Chineseizing ethnic minorities during the tenure of President Xi Jinping. China is continuously harassing Muslims and is bent on erasing their names.
China has stepped up its campaign to destroy the cultural identity of Muslims and is removing domes and minarets from mosques. China has taken this strategy directly from the Soviet Union. It is following a policy of giving very little cultural autonomy to ethnic minorities. Now under the leadership of Xi Jinping, the Muslims of the country are being Chineseised.
As a result of this, Muslims have now incorporated the concept of worship prevalent in China into their Muslim customs. Dongguan, a hundreds of years old mosque in Xinjiang province, is the latest victim of Chinese repression. Not only this, after the demolition of a mosque in Atush in Xinjiang province, a public toilet has been opened in its place. The Chinese government says it wants to Chineseize mosques so that they look like Beijing’s Tiananmen Square.
China is engaged in eliminating minarets and domes from mosques in thousands of numbers across the country. Chinese officials say the dome and minaret are symbols of foreign religious influence. That’s why they are demolishing it, to make Muslims more traditional Chinese Muslims. China has intensified this campaign at a time when Islamophobia is increasing very rapidly in the country and the scope of religious restrictions is continuously being expanded. China wants Muslims to implement the values of the Communist Party of China in their religious rules and only speak Mandarin. Simultaneously, reject all foreign influences.
Historian Ma Haiyun says that the Chinese left now wants to rule China culturally. Under this, the authorities here are demolishing the domes from the mosques so that Saudi or Arabic influence can be ended. A campaign was launched in the year 2016 under China’s new policy. Under this, two mosques were demolished in Sungag village of Atush. Of these, a public toilet was built in Tokul Masjid in 2018.
