Countries across the world mourned the death of India’s first Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat in a helicopter crash. India’s neighboring countries Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have also expressed condolences on the death of CDS Rawat in the hour of grief. Pakistan Army, Nepalese Army, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have paid tribute to General Rawat by tweeting.
Special prayer organized in Bhutan
A special prayer meeting was organized to pay tribute to General Rawat and his wife in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his father Jigme Singye Wangchuck also attended the event. India’s envoy to Bhutan Ruchira Kamboj was also present on the occasion.
Nepali PM expressed deep sorrow
On the other hand, Nepal’s Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed grief over the death of India’s first Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat in the helicopter crash and expressed condolences to the Government of India and the bereaved family. Deuba tweeted that it is deeply saddened by the death of General Bipin Rawat, his wife and several other defense officers in the helicopter crash. My condolences to the bereaved family and the Indian Armed Forces.
Nepali army chief said – I am shocked
Describing General Rawat as a true friend of Nepal, Nepal Army Chief General Prabhu Ram Sharma said he was shocked by the tragic incident and called General Rawat’s family on Wednesday evening to express condolences. This information has been given in the statement issued by the Nepal Army. General Rawat had close and cordial relations with Nepal.
Bangladesh said – lost a great friend
Bangladesh has also condoled the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat. Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry tweeted that it is deeply shocked to learn about the demise of General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat in a tragic helicopter crash. Bangladesh has lost a great friend. Our condolences and prayers are with the people of India and the bereaved family.
