The Global Times wrote in its article, ‘Imagine if India was completely trapped in the geopolitical circle of America and the West and became a slave to Washington like ‘the other Japan’, then India would go about its goal of becoming a powerful country. How can I think? Apart from this, even India’s national pride cannot allow it.’ China’s target is the good relations between India and the West, especially alliances like the Quad, which include India and the US.
Flowers falling from the mouth of Global Times for New Delhi
The Global Times said, ‘America and Western countries neither understand China nor India. After all, how can big countries like China and India, who dream of the ‘Asian century’, dance to their behest? Compared to the US and the West, we respect India’s independent foreign policy and we are happy to see New Delhi’s strategic restraint that cannot be easily fooled.’ China has already supported India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar’s statement of ‘Asian century’.
Jaishankar talked about ‘Asian century’
In August last month, Jaishankar, while delivering a lecture at the prestigious Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok on the topic ‘Indian perspective of the Indo-Pacific’, had said that the Asian century would be possible only when India and China came together. He had said that the Asian century would be difficult if India and China could not come together. China had backed Jaishankar’s statement, saying that the two neighboring countries have “more common interests than differences”. Jaishankar said, “After what China has done on the border, India-China relations are going through a very difficult phase at this time.”
China scoffed at India’s achievement
Earlier, Hu Shijin, a journalist associated with Global Times, had spewed venom on India’s economic achievement. The Bharatiya Janata Party had made a tweet about India leaving Britain behind. Sharing a screenshot of that tweet, Shijin taunted, ‘India will continue to colonize Britain and may also ‘Indianise’ the UK. One day English with Indian pronunciation will become the most standard English in the world and foreigners learning English will learn Indian pronunciation, Lage Raho Bharat.’
