According to Geo News, the Embassy of China has not given any specific reason behind taking this step. China has also not told when the consular section will be reopened. The Chinese Embassy announced in a notice released on its official website that the consular section was being closed. It said that this shutdown, which began on February 13, would continue till further orders. Meanwhile, China has also warned its citizens that they should be very cautious while living in Pakistan in view of the security situation.
China does not trust the Pakistani Home Minister!
In a notice issued on Saturday, the Consular Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry warned its citizens that there could be a great danger to their security in Pakistan. The Chinese government has taken this step at a time when the Shahbaz government had claimed a day earlier that it would protect the citizens and foreigners of the country. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had on February 12 directed the authorities in Gwadar to provide complete security to Pakistanis and foreign nationals.
Rana Sanaullah had claimed that full security would be provided to Chinese citizens working in various projects in Pakistan. He also said that any laxity in this direction will not be tolerated. Even after this assurance from the Pakistani Home Minister, China is not convinced and has asked its citizens to remain extremely alert. Baloch rebels in Pakistan are continuously carrying out attacks against Chinese citizens. Recently, TTP terrorists attacked a mosque and killed around 100 people. Most of these were policemen. It is believed that the Chinese government is panicked by all this and has had to issue a warning to its citizens.
