Ahmed Shah Ahmedzai was born in the village of Malang in Khaki Jabbar district of Kabul province, Afghanistan. It is said that he studied engineering from Kabul University in Afghanistan. According to media reports, Ahmed Shah Ahmedzai was given a scholarship in the year 1972 to study at Colorado State University in the United States.

The year 1978 was the moment in Ahmed Shah Ahmedzai’s life when he returned to Afghanistan to join the Mujahideen.
