Leaders of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) say that the news of the return of party supremo Nawaz Sharif is not allowing Prime Minister Imran Khan and his PTI-led government to sleep. PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah has claimed this. Earlier, Pakistan’s Home Minister Sheikh Rashid had claimed that Imran Khan would complete his term.
PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah said that the mention of Nawaz Sharif’s possible return to the country has raised “alarm bells” for the current government, The Express Tribune reported. The PML-N leader said the fear of his predecessor’s return was not letting Khan sleep. The Express Tribune quoted Sanaullah as saying, “Those responsible for rising inflation, inefficiency and corruption are shouting (in fear). They can do whatever they want, but they have to go eventually.
‘There is only one message for Sheikh Rashid that don’t panic’
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, senior vice-president of PML-N, said that Nawaz Sharif himself will decide whether to return to the country. “It shows that the ruling party is not only nervous but also confused… Whatever they (ministers) say, they (PTI government) will have to go,” he said. As reported by The Express Tribune, Sanaullah said the statements and news conferences of all ruling party leaders, including Prime Minister Khan, focused only on PML-N leaders – Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
Sanaullah quipped, ‘I have only one message for Imran Niazi and Sheikh Rashid, don’t panic.’ He said that ‘the whole country is looking forward to welcome its leader Nawaz’. Earlier PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif, who is also the brother of the former prime minister, categorically said that Nawaz Sharif will not return till he is fully recovered. Nawaz Sharif’s return is being speculated at a time when it is being said that his rapport with the army has recovered.
‘Fake government has accepted its defeat from Nawaz Sharif’
In a statement issued on Saturday, Shehbaz Sharif said Nawaz Sharif can stay in the UK legally until the immigration tribunal rules on his appeal against the denial of visa extension by the British Home Office. Meanwhile, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said in a tweet, “This fake government has accepted its defeat from Nawaz Sharif, who is the present and future of Pakistan.” By targeting a big personality, a pygmy cannot be raised in stature.’
