    George Town :External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Prime Minister of Guyana Mark Phillips and expressed determination to be India’s partner in the development journey of the South American country. The two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in the energy, disaster management and defense sectors in the meeting held on Saturday. Jaishankar tweeted that he was delighted to meet Prime Minister Phillips and other leaders here. He wrote on Twitter, ‘(We) discussed energy, disaster management and preparedness and defense cooperation. India will be Guyana’s partner in its journey of development. Jaishankar wrote in another tweet that the facilities provided by India in the field of infrastructure are increasing globally. The External Affairs Minister said in a tweet that he along with Guyana’s Public Works Minister Devdat Inder visited the site of the ‘East Bank-East Coast Road Linkage’ project and interacted with workers and senior employees. He said, ‘I was impressed by their enthusiasm.’ Earlier, Jaishankar met Guyana President Irfan Ali and Vice President Bharat Jagdev on Saturday.
