The government of India and Saudi Arabia had recently decided to start a special direct flight between the two countries to provide relief to Indian workers and thousands of people performing Umrah. This flight is to start from January 1. The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia also announced the Air Bubble Agreement between the two countries. Even after it is December 29, this agreement of both the countries has not been implemented yet and troubled passengers are not able to book tickets yet.
Ram Karan, a scientist at King Abdullah University of Saudi Arabia, told that the booking of direct flights from India to Saudi Arabia has not started yet. He said that due to the lack of direct flights, Indians have to take connecting flights to Saudi Arabia via countries like UAE, Kuwait, Oman. Due to this, where the ticket prices are touching the sky, tickets are not even available. Flights are to start from January 1 but booking has not started yet.
Indians upset due to non-starting of direct flights
He told that after the air bubble agreement between India and Saudi, we expected that direct flights would increase but this has not happened. Under the Air Bubble Agreement, airlines of both countries will be able to start direct flights between India and Saudi Arabia following the Corona restrictions. For the last 15 months, Indians have to go to Saudi Arabia through other countries, due to which their problems have increased a lot. Neither the Indian Embassy nor the airlines have given any information in this regard.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia had given great relief to the citizens of 6 countries including India, Pakistan working in lakhs of jobs. People of these countries will not have to spend 14 days in quarantine in any third country. This new order came into effect from December 1 this year. In February last year, the direct entry of travelers was banned after the spread of corona globally. However, Indians are upset due to non-starting of direct flights.
