Freedom of expression is like the foundation of any democratic country, which is very important for maintaining peace in the world. Last year the award was given to the World Food Program, an organization started in 1961 by US President Dwight Eichnower. The main task of this organization is to provide food to every hungry person in the world.

The Nobel Committee told that Dmitry Muratov is a journalist, he co-founded a newspaper in Russia named Novaja Gazeta. The committee noted that Novaya Gazeta is one of the most independent newspapers in Russia today. The Nobel Committee also pointed out that Dmitry Muratov has been working for freedom of expression in Russia for many years.
Maria Resa is also a journalist. She founded Repler in 2012. Replar is a digital media company, co-founder of Maria Resa. Repler who is keeping Investigative Journalism alive and taking it forward. María Resa worked to uphold freedom of expression in her home country of the Philippines by eliminating the use of violence, abuse of power and dictatorship to bring it to the fore. Because of which the Nobel Committee will honor him with the Peace Prize.
