China told how people died
China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a statement on Saturday that 681 hospitalized patients died of respiratory problems caused by the novel coronavirus infection. At the same time, 11,977 people died during this period due to corona infection along with many other diseases. These figures do not include those people who died of corona infection at home.
Death toll can go up to 36000 per day
Airfinity, an independent forecasting firm, has estimated that the daily death toll in China during the Lunar New Year holiday could reach 36,000. The firm has also estimated that more than 600,000 people have died from the coronavirus after China abandoned its zero-covid policy in December. Today, according to the Chinese lunar calendar, after three years on New Year’s Day, people are traveling to visit their families. In such a situation, there is a possibility of spreading the infection very fast.
Scientists deny new wave in China
Wu Zunyou, chief epidemiologist at the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that China will not face a second wave of Covid infections in the next two to three months, as most of the population has already been infected by the virus. He warned that the spread of the epidemic could be to some extent due to people traveling during the spring festival. However, this is not expected to increase the death toll.
