Taipei: The situation in China and Taiwan in the South China Sea is getting serious amid the war in Russia and Ukraine. Taiwan’s Defense Minister Chiu Kuo Cheng said that China’s military may make a ‘sudden incursion’ into Taiwanese areas located near its territory and we have to be alert for this. The Taiwanese Defense Minister has given this warning at a time when the tension in the Taiwan Strait has increased a lot. China’s army and navy are continuously engaged in intimidating Taiwan.
The Chinese army has so far carried out intimidating activities around Taiwan but has not intruded into any area occupied by Taiwan. However, last year a Chinese drone entered an island adjacent to China in Taiwan. In his statement to Taiwan’s parliament, the Defense Minister said that the Chinese military could find an excuse how to enter Taiwan’s territorial air and sea space. Taiwan is currently buying weapons on a large scale with the US, which has badly infuriated China.

Earlier last year, China conducted large-scale military exercises around Taiwan after the visit of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the US Parliament, to Taipei. Taiwanese Defense Minister warned that China wants to create a crisis by using an excuse. This includes visits to Taiwan by senior officials of foreign governments. He told that talks are going on for America to store weapons inside Taiwan. America gives the most weapons to Taiwan.
