Britain’s next lord chief justice Will become a woman. This is happening for the first time after more than 750 years because after the establishment of this post, no woman has sat on this post till date. Two women judges are candidates for the post. These include 58-year-old Dame Sue Carr and 67-year-old Dame Victoria Sharp. Since Lord Chief Justice is currently a title used only by men. It is now being said that British constitutional law may need to be replaced with the title “Lady Chief Justice”.
The post of Lord Chief Justice was first created in 1268. More than 100 men have held this position.
