Islamabad : Top leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz has said that only after the change of command of Pakistan Army in November last year, the present government of Pakistan got real power. Maryam Nawaz said that earlier the ‘assistants’ of former Prime Minister Imran Khan were present in the powerful military establishment and were obstructing the work of the government. In November last year, General Qamar Javed Bajwa retired as the Pakistan Army Chief. Shahbaz Sharif had chosen General Asim Munir as the new Army Chief.

Maryam, considered the successor of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, returned to Pakistan on Saturday to lead her Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party in the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab province. She had gone to London about four months ago to meet her father. Maryam Nawaz said, ‘The tenure of our government is not of 10 months. In fact, we came to power on November 28 when General Asim Munir was made the Army Chief, replacing General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

    Imran-Bajwa… Enemies became friends

He said that before November 28, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran’s helpers were present in the military establishment. Pakistan’s Home Minister Rana Sanaullah has also accused Bajwa and former ISI DG General (R) Faiz Hameed of giving benefits to Imran Khan till 28 November 2022. It is true that Imran Khan came to power with the help of former Pakistan Army Chief Bajwa, but in April last year, the relationship between the two deteriorated to a great extent.

PTI leaders are living in jail

The Shehbaz government alleges that due to the wrong policies of the Imran Khan-led PTI government, Pakistan came under the grip of economic crisis. In Pakistan, Imran Khan’s close and senior PTI leaders are currently on the target of the government. First former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary and then former Home Minister Sheikh Rasheed have gone to jail. If reports are to be believed, the sword of arrest is also hanging on Imran Khan.
