During this, it keeps removing methane from the air. However, it can only remove methane from the air in small amounts. Experts say that if methanotrophs bacteria are used on a large scale, then the effect of global warming can be reduced to a great extent. Methane gas is also called greenhouse gas. This gas is usually released from human activities like agriculture, waste disposal and factory production.
According to the research report, with the help of methanotroph bacteria, success can be achieved in preventing 240 million tons of methane gas from reaching the environment by the year 2050. Scientists have discovered a strain of this bacteria. This strain is five times more capable of consuming methane gas than other bacteria. Methanotrophs bacteria can prove to be most effective in those places where there are large herds of cattle.
