Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her anger over the vandalism of pandals and attacks on Hindu temples during Durga Puja celebrations in Comilla district in Bangladesh on Wednesday. Three people were killed and around 60 were injured in communal violence that broke out during Durga Puja celebrations in Hajiganj Upazila of Chandipur, Bangladesh on Wednesday. Sheikh Hasina warned that whoever is involved in this attack will not be spared, irrespective of their religion. Along with this, Sheikh Hasina has also asked India to be cautious. Sheikh Hasina said that nothing should happen in India which has an impact on Bangladesh and harms the Hindu community there.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, while addressing the people at Dhakeshwari National Temple in Dhaka through video conferencing on Thursday, said that the incident in Comilla district is being investigated. Whoever attacked Hindu temples and Durga Puja pandals, none of them will be spared. It does not matter what was the religion of these miscreants. Sheikh Hasina also made an appeal to India, assuring action against those involved in the attack.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that terrorist activities are on the rise all over the world. Not only our country but also neighboring countries should be cautious about this. He said, India has helped us a lot in our freedom struggle and for this we will always be grateful. But in India also nothing should be done which will affect our country and harm the people of Hindu community of our country. They also need to be a little careful about this. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reprimanded the miscreants fiercely. Describing this incident as unfortunate, he has said that these are the people who do not win the trust of others and who do not have any kind of ideology, the same people get such attacks done. We are getting a lot of information in this matter. We will definitely find out those who have carried out this attack. This is the age of technology. We have done this in the past and we will continue to do so in future also. Strict punishment will be given to them so that in future people do not repeat such incident.
Sheikh Hasina also appealed to the people and said that people in Bangladesh celebrate all festivals together by rising above caste and religion. Religion is personal for any human being but festivals are meant to be celebrated with community and people. Sheikh Hasina said that this incident has happened at a time when Bangladesh is taking rapid steps towards development and the purpose of this incident is to harm the progress of our country. Some people are religiously superstitious and they are always trying to spread communal tension or violence. Such people are not only in Muslim society but also in other religions. But if we work together then such people cannot harm us.
In this case, Bangladesh Hindu Unity Council tweeted that – 13 October 2021, was a condemnable day in the history of Bangladesh. Many puja pavilions were vandalized on the occasion of idol immersion on the day of Ashtami. Hindus are now guarding the puja mandaps. Today the whole world is silent. May Maa Durga keep her blessings on all the Hindus of the world. Sheikh Hasina asked the people of the Hindu community not to consider themselves a minority and continue with their religious activities like the followers of other religions. Sheikh Hasina said that Hindus have also fought shoulder to shoulder in the 1971 war and they have the same rights as people of other religions.
Foreign Ministry spokesman said that – We have seen reports of violence during religious ceremonies in Bangladesh. The Government of Bangladesh took prompt action and deployed security forces to control the situation. The Durga Puja ceremony was possible only with the cooperation of the Government of Bangladesh and the people there. We are in constant contact with the Government of Bangladesh.
