The Hong Kong administration said on Tuesday that about 2000 hamsters (rat-like creatures) would be killed if found infected with the corona virus. The administration said that several hamsters were found to be Covid-19 infected in a pet store because a corona virus-infected employee was working there. Officials said that the import and export of this munching species will also be banned.
The move was taken after an employee of a pet store tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. After this many hamsters were also found infected. However, the administration also said that no ‘evidence’ has been found of the spread of corona from organisms to humans. But as a precautionary measure, all hamsters purchased after January 7 from affected stores will be compulsorily killed.
Will have to be tested after buying rats
Such people will have to hand over their hamsters to the administration. All stores have been ordered to stop selling and selling hamsters. Those buying hamsters from pet stores from December 22 onwards will also have to compulsorily get tested for Covid-19 and these people have been appealed not to come in public till the report comes. Earlier, Hong Kong police arrested two former crew members for violating the rules related to Covid-19.
