TMC accuses opposition of delaying elections
The ruling Trinamool Congress claimed on Friday 9 June 2023 that the opposition parties want to delay the panchayat elections. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that “we have nothing to say on the direction of the court. We have full respect for the judiciary. But the fact is that the opposition—BJP, CPI(M) and Congress—are trying to delay the panchayat polls due to their inability to field candidates on all seats, fearing defeat.” The BJP and the Congress have even approached the Calcutta High Court, filing an application there saying that sufficient time has not been given to file nominations. Along with this, a demand has been made from the court to deploy adequate number of central forces.

Opposition will join TMC
Kunal Ghosh claimed that “Trinamool will get majority everywhere. As a result 2-4 people winning on other symbols will feel it. Why would people vote for other symbols? If you vote for TMC, TMC will directly win. Even if he votes for someone else, he will join TMC even if he wins.”
