Cyclone Biparjoy: The cyclonic storm Biparjoy, which rose from the Arabian Sea, has now assumed a dangerous form. Authorities have banned fishing off the southern and northern coasts of Gujarat, issuing a strict warning. Strong winds are blowing from Mumbai to Kerala coast. High waves rising from the middle of the ocean are hitting the shores. The authorities have started evacuating the population living in the coastal areas to safer places.
PM Modi assured the public by tweeting
Realizing the sensitivity of the occasion, PM Modi informed about the preparations of the government by tweeting, he wrote that “Presided over a meeting to review the preparedness in the wake of Cyclone Biparjoy. Our teams are ensuring safe evacuation from sensitive areas and ensuring maintenance of essential services. Praying for everyone’s safety and well-being.”

IMD Director General himself told the situation
Giving information about Biparjoy cyclonic storm, IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that Biparjoy is slowly moving in the north direction at a speed of 5 km/hr and will change its direction after June 14. A Very Severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 125-135 kmph is likely to hit Saurashtra, Kutch and Pakistan coast by the afternoon of June 15. There will be heavy rains in Saurashtra and Kutch on June 14-15.
