Harbans Kapoor, who was an MLA from the Cantt Assembly of Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, has passed away today. Due to which a wave of mourning has started in Uttarakhand BJP.
Harbans Kapoor was elected MLA for eight consecutive terms. He also held the post of Speaker of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Along with Uttarakhand, he has been a very important leader and MLA for BJP.
His death before the Uttarakhand assembly elections has dealt a big blow to the BJP. After which Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Harbans Kapoor’s residence in Dehradun and paid tribute to him. During this, many people including former CM Harish Rawat, Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, MLA Munna Singh Chauhan, District Panchayat President Madhu Chauhan, DGP Ashok Kumar have reached the house of the late MLA to pay tribute to him.
Let us tell you, the last rites will be performed at the Lakhibagh crematorium this afternoon. Heart attack is said to be the cause of his death. He was completely healthy and was active in all the party meetings and other activities. On Sunday also he took part in various meetings. Harbans Kapoor was 75 years old.
Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat expressed deep grief over the demise of Harbans Kapoor. He said that Harbans Kapoor, one of the senior most MLAs of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand BJP, contributed significantly in building up the party organization through many struggles. After the formation of Uttarakhand, you left your indelible mark as the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. In this way, mourning is being expressed by all the leaders across the country including Uttarakhand.
