There was strife in Punjab for a long time, but when Punjab CM Charanjit Channi was elected as the Chief Minister, it seemed that all the issues of Punjab have been resolved, now there is no discord in Punjab Congress. But it may not have been even a week since Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was sworn in that once again infighting came to the fore from within the party.
Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from the post of state president today. After this there was an influx of resignations of other ministers. Cabinet minister Razia Sultana, Punjab Congress general secretary Yogendra Dhingra and Punjab Congress treasurer Gulzar Inder Chahal also resigned from the post.
Meanwhile, former CM of the state Captain Amarinder Singh has claimed that Sidhu may leave the Congress and join some other party before the assembly elections in Punjab next year. Former CM’s media advisor Raveen Thukral tweeted quoting Amarinder Singh.
He tweeted that Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation as Punjab chief within 2 months of his appointment shows that he is preparing to quit Congress and join another party ahead of Punjab Assembly elections.
Earlier, just after Sidhu’s resignation, the Captain tweeted that I told you he is not the same person and not suitable for the border state of Punjab.
It is worth noting that Navjot Singh Sidhu today resigned from the post of Congress’ Punjab unit president, triggering a fresh crisis in the party a few months ahead of the assembly elections in the state. Sidhu stepped down soon after.
