The Election Commission spokesperson tweeted from the official Twitter handle of the official account spokesperson ECI and wrote, “ECI has extended the ban on physical rallies and road shows till January 22, 2022. ECI gives relaxation to political parties to the extent that indoor meetings of maximum 300 persons or 50% of the hall capacity or the limit prescribed by SDMA (1/2). ,

Decision taken after reviewing the situation with the officials

Significantly, on Saturday, the Election Commission held a review meeting with the Chief Secretaries of the Union Health Ministry, Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh and the Chief Electoral Officers of all the five states. During this meeting, all the officials reviewed the situation in view of the current situation of corona infection in the country and its trend in the five electoral states. It is being told that after this meeting, the Election Commission decided that all election rallies and road shows will be banned till January 22 in the states where assembly elections are to be held.
