BJP has termed the decision of the Delhi government to reduce VAT on petrol as the victory of the struggle made by the people of Delhi and the workers of BJP. Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta while congratulating all Delhiites and BJP workers for this said that After all, the Delhi government had to bow down in front of the struggle over petrol and diesel. He was forced to reduce the VAT on petrol by Rs 8. Now every person of Delhi will get some relief in the price of petrol. They demand that VAT on diesel should also be reduced.
Adesh Gupta reminded Arvind Kejriwal of the old promises that before coming to power, Kejriwal had promised that he would levy the lowest VAT on petrol and diesel in Delhi, but increased VAT from 12 percent on diesel to 30 percent and on petrol. VAT increased from 20 percent to 30 percent. Protested against this in the assembly, then VAT on diesel was reduced from 30 percent to 17 percent.
Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri also expressed displeasure over the non-reduction of VAT on diesel, saying that all the farmers and transporters use diesel more. They should also get the benefit of this exemption. He described the reduction of VAT on petrol as a late step.
Former state president and MP Manoj Tiwari tweeted that Arvind Kejriwal, following his insistence, kept looting the people of Delhi for 27 days. This late decision has once again proved that Arvind Kejriwal does not care about the people of Delhi. It would have been better if this decision would have been taken 27 days in advance.
