After nearly three and a half months, the Aam Aadmi Party has released its first list of candidates for the proposed assembly elections in Punjab. Tickets have been given to 10 MLAs in this list released amid the ‘stampede’ among party MLAs, but the names of 3 MLAs including party MLA Jagtar Singh Hissowal from Raikot assembly seat are not included in it.
According to the list released by the party, Jaikishan Rodi Garhshankar, Sarvjit Kaur Manuke Jagraon, Manjit Bilaspur Nihal Singh Wala, Kultar Singh Sandhwan Kotkapura, Baljinder Kaur Talwandi Sabo, Principal Budhram Budhlada, Harpal Singh Cheema Dirba, Aman Arora Sunam, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair Barnala and Kulwant Pandori will be party candidates from Mahalkalan assembly seat.
Hisowal praised Channi
The name of party MLA Jagtar Singh Hissowal from Raikot assembly seat of Ludhiana district is not included in the first list of Aam Aadmi Party candidates. Hisowal had openly praised Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi during the special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly on November 11 itself. Since that time there is a discussion that Jagtar Singh Hisowal is going to leave the Aam Aadmi Party. In the first list of candidates released on Friday, the party has confirmed these discussions in a way by not giving ticket to Hisowal. Apart from Jagtar Singh Hissowal, AAP has also not announced ticket of party MLA Amarjit Singh Sandoa from Ropar and party MLA Baldev Singh from Jaito in the first list. Meanwhile, MLA Sarvjit Kaur Manuke from Jagraon seat in Ludhiana district and in Moga district. There are talks of Nihal Singh Vala’s MLA Manjit Bilaspur leaving the Aam Aadmi Party, but the party on Friday tried to put an end to these speculations by making both of them candidates for the next assembly elections.
It is worth mentioning that for some time now it is a common discussion in Punjab that many MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party are either not willing to contest the next election or want to change their constituency. Now the party has tried to put an end to these discussions by giving tickets to all the sitting MLAs from their respective assembly circles.

Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that the party will fight the 2022 assembly elections in Punjab with the face of the Chief Minister. Kejriwal has also said that the CM face of his party will be such a Punjabi, which will be respected by the whole of Punjab. However, Kejriwal has not yet clarified that who will be the CM face?
On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party leader in Punjab and Sangrur Lok Sabha MP Bhagwant Singh Mann is a strong contender for the chief ministerial face. Mann himself also wants the party to announce the CM face to him, but Kejriwal is not ready for it at the moment. There is also suspense on whether Bhagwant Mann will contest the assembly elections or not? The name of Bhagwant Mann is not in the first list of candidates released by the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday. In such a situation, it is obvious that the round of speculation about this will continue.
