There was a time when BJP was known as LK Advani, he was said to be a strong contender for the post of Prime Minister, then why could he never become the Prime Minister.
Advani, who brought the BJP out of the middle of the country’s central politics, which was reduced to two seats in 1984, and in 1988 led the party to its first major victory. Today the Bharatiya Janata Party is taking advantage of the struggle made by him at that time, but this time Advani has become irrelevant in the BJP.
Advani pulled the party out of the 2004 and 2008 defeats and was replaced by Narendra Modi, who worked under him, when it came to eating fruits. According to Ram Bahadur Rai, after the BJP’s defeat in the 2004 elections, the party members decided that they needed a new leader. The reason behind this was also that Rahul Gandhi was stepping into politics on behalf of the Congress.
Advani replaced in new leadership
At that time the question arose whether LK Advani’s place in the new leadership was made? The influence that Advani had inside the party at that time suppressed this thinking there. When these questions were raised, Advani ordered the party president Venkaiah Naidu to resign from his post and he himself became the president of the party.
Senior journalist Ajay Singh says that “If we look at the politics of 1994-95, then at that time Advani appeared to be the natural candidate for the Prime Minister’s post from the BJP, which was dominated by him and not of any leader”. Ajay Singh further said that Advani made Vajpayee sit in his place on the Prime Minister’s chair with great care, he knew that such a leader is needed in those conditions of the country.
We all know that to get the support of the RSS it was necessary at one time to be fanatic but if a leader stood for the Prime Minister, he had to change his image so that he would be accepted across the country. According to Ajay Singh, if you want to join the race for constitutional post, then you have to go in the opposite direction from this hardline.
It is a bit difficult to reconcile the two views, the same problem was with Advani at that time and also with Vajpayee, but Vajpayee’s ability to speak used to get him out of this trouble. But this problem of Advani persisted due to which he could not clear his image.

Advani lavished praise on Ali Jinnah by arriving in Pakistan to improve his image and for political acceptance, which Advani felt would improve his image. But this decision turned out to be the biggest mistake of his political career.
After the Gujarat riots, Vajpayee wanted Narendra Modi to resign from his post, but at that time Arun Jaitley and Pramod Mahajan pacified Vajpayee. It is said that Advani also played an important role in this, but it is difficult to tell whether it is true. Perhaps this is the reason why Narendra Modi remained Advani’s right hand till 2012.

In the 2014 elections, when the party wanted to field Narendra Modi for the post of Prime Minister, Advani protested, indicating that he himself wanted to stand for the Prime Minister’s seat once. But despite his opposition, the election was fought in the name of Narendra Modi.
In 2004, the RSS wanted to make Advani the Prime Minister, but even at that time the situation was such that Advani could not become the Prime Minister. Efforts were also made to remove Vajpayee from his post but this could not happen and because of this Advani kept on becoming the Prime Minister.
