Alliance meeting Mamata Banerjee put forward name of Congress President
New Delhi (EMS). The fourth meeting of the leaders of the India Alliance was held on Tuesday at Ashoka Hotel in Delhi. In this, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee suggested the name of Mallikarjun Kharge for PM face. Arvind Kejriwal supported it. This information was given by MDMK (Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) MP Vaiko after the meeting. However, former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav maintained silence on the question of PM face. It is believed that in such a situation, Kharge can be made the coordinator of ‘India’. Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and RLD’s Jayant Chaudhary were also present in the meeting.
After the meeting, Mallikarjun Kharge said that 28 parties participated in the fourth meeting. The leaders presented their views before the alliance. How should everyone work together in the interest of the people or whatever issue should be raised from the beginning. It was decided to hold at least 8-10 meetings across the country. He said that under the BJP government, MPs are being suspended from the Parliament of the country. This is undemocratic. For this everyone will have to fight together for which we are ready.
Five issues discussed in the meeting
The issue of seat sharing regarding the 2024 Lok Sabha elections remained the center of discussion in the meeting. There was discussion on the target of fielding common candidates on 400 seats against BJP. At the same time, Congress is trying to field its candidates on 275 to 300 seats. The party is in favor of giving only 200-250 seats to other parties. The name of the coordinator of the alliance was discussed in the meeting. For this, names of Uddhav Thackeray, Mamta Banerjee, Nitish Kumar can be considered. What would be the alternative agenda and issues? A strategy was chalked out in the meeting as to which issues they should go to in response to BJP’s issue of Sanatan and Saffron. Apart from opposing Modi and BJP, there was discussion on what plan India has for the country. Leaders of the election campaign and management alliance discussed how to set the tone for the Lok Sabha elections once the candidates are finalised. Where, how many rallies will be held and who will be the star campaigners. How will the branding of the election campaign be done and which agencies’ help can be taken for this? Discussion on suspension of MPs from the House: The suspension of 141 MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha was discussed in the meeting. Opposition parties condemned the suspension of the MPs.
Congress formed National Alliance Committee
Before the meeting, Congress formed a National Alliance Committee of 5 members for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, Salman Khurshid and Mohan Prakash are its members, Mukul Wasnik was made the convenor of the committee.
