Karnataka cabinet reshuffle: A consensus has been reached in the Congress regarding cabinet expansion in Karnataka. Now tomorrow on Saturday 27 May 2023 the cabinet will be expanded. This time there is a possibility of swearing in 24 ministers. Earlier today, CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar discussed the cabinet expansion with the Congress high command in Delhi. In which the list of eligible names was considered.
Now only 8 MLAs have taken the oath of office
The Siddaramaiah government was sworn in on May 20 after winning the Karnataka elections. In which only 8 MLAs including CM and Deputy CM DK Shivkumar took oath as ministers. These MLAs, who represent different classes, were elected for the oath. While there was a plan to take oath of 28 ministers. For this reason, even after a week, portfolios have not been distributed to any minister. Congress has a plan. Once the names of the ministers are finalised.

News of differences between CM and Deputy CM regarding cabinet selection
The tussle between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar is also believed to be going on over the selection of possible names for the cabinet. DK Shivakumar wants the number of ministers close to him to be more in the cabinet. While the maximum number in the cabinet can be 34 only. In this situation, the challenge before the Congress high command is that the internal politics in the state remains calm.
Meeting held at Delhi’s Gurdwara Rakabganj office
The names of ministers of Congress in-charge Randeep Surjewala were discussed with CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar today at Gurdwara Rakabganj Road offices. Whereas, after holding a separate meeting at the residence of Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, it was agreed to expand the cabinet on Saturday.
