But there PM Morape broke the tradition and reached the airport and PM Modi became the first head of state for which PM Morape gave a grand welcome. It is believed that the Morape government had taken this decision due to India’s growing influence on global forums and PM Modi’s credibility.

PM Modi has reached Papua New Guinea to attend the Forum for India-Pacific Island Countries in the second leg of his visit. Leaders of 14 Pacific Ocean countries will participate in this conference. India wants to ensure the security of its economic, trade and diplomatic interests in the Indo-Pacific by reducing China’s influence.
