Uttarakhand News: There has been a sudden increase in the cases of love jihad in Uttarakhand. According to the latest information, 48 cases have been registered in these first 5 months of 2023 itself. Whereas in the year 2022, the total number of cases was 76. Out of which about a dozen cases have been registered in the last one month only. Due to the increasing involvement of Muslim youths in the cases of love jihad, an atmosphere of anger is being created across the state. It is being told that there are many cases which have not reached the police, due to which the atmosphere of Uttarakhand is feared to deteriorate. In Purola, the shops of Muslim traders have been closed for two weeks and on June 15, a call was given to call a mahapanchayat, along with a warning to Muslim traders to vacate their shops. After which a dozen traders have vacated the shop.

The increasing number of cases in the state in the last one month has raised the ears of the state police administration. After which the matter has reached the notice of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. In view of the sensitivity of the matter, CM Dhami has immediately called a meeting of high police officers and intelligence officers and given instructions to closely monitor the situation. After this, the police administration of Uttarakhand has become increasingly active. He is continuously holding meetings with various sections. Let us tell you that some social organizations in Uttarkashi of the state had told about calling a mahapanchayat on these matters. That’s why right now no one is refraining from speaking anything officially.

Cases of kidnapping and poxo raised concern
The way cases of love jihad have come to the fore from Uttarkashi, Haridwar and Chamoli. He has increased the concern of the administration. Because statistics are showing that most of these cases are registered in POCSO and kidnapping. Which clearly means that minor girls are being targeted. The police have also intensified their action and have arrested almost all the accused. The administration has activated the local intelligence unit and ordered the police to verify the outsiders and take strict action against those hiding their identity. In this regard, orders have been sent by writing letters to the DGP of the state and all the SSPs, SPs of the districts.
