The Vice Chancellor of Delhi University has decided to name the next campus to be built after Veer Savarkar and former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj, a senior BJP leader. This decision has been taken in the meeting of the Executive Council of Delhi University.

In the executive council meeting of Delhi University, the proposed changes in the appointment of assistant professors were also implemented by the VC, despite disagreement by its three members Seema Das, Rajpal Singh Pawar and advocate Ashok Agarwal.

DU may suffer
The number of candidates in the college of Delhi University is not limited. In such a situation, for university departments, a minimum of 30 candidates will be invited for the first vacancy and 10 for each additional vacancy. At the same time, the members have expressed dissatisfaction over the importance given to PhD in the selection of assistant professors.
Dissatisfied members demanded from the Ministry of Education
The dissatisfied members wrote to the Ministry of Education stating that, “Ad hoc, temporary or contractual appointments and work and those who fulfill the eligibility criteria will be shortlisted for interview in the respective university and/or its colleges.”

At the same time, Seema Das told about this matter that, “VC said that they will see what needs to be done on this letter. The academic council of the university in its meeting held in August had decided to name upcoming colleges and facilitation centers after Veer Savarkar and Sushma Swaraj. The council has also suggested the names of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Savitri Bai Phule, Arun Jaitley, Chaudhary Brahm Prakash and CD Deshmukh.
