Delhi MCD Election: Almost 6 months have passed since the Delhi MCD elections. Elections were held last year in December 2022 after the integration of MCD. After this the elections to the MCD Standing Committee were held on 24 February. Since then the election result of the standing committee members was not declared. The election result remained pending for so long as the matter went to court. After this, after the order of the High Court, the mayor of MCD Shelly Oberoi also approved the declaration of the result. Finally, after 103 days, on Thursday, June 8, 2023, the results were declared. In which 3-3 members of AAP and BJP have been declared victorious in the elections.
Know who are the winning members
Let us tell you that Mohini Jinwal, Raminder Kaur and Amil Malik from Aam Aadmi Party won the membership elections in the standing committee elections of Municipal Corporation of Delhi. On the other hand, Kamaljit Sehrawat, Pankaj Luthra and Gajendra Daral, former mayors of the BJP, were declared victorious. Let us tell you that due to the uproar in the Standing Committee elections held on February 24, the mayor had announced re-election. After which the mayor’s decision was challenged in the Delhi High Court by the BJP. After this, the High Court rejected Mayor Shelly Oberoi’s decision to conduct re-election and ordered the declaration of election results.

What does the Standing Committee do?
The most powerful body within the MCD is the Standing Committee. This committee is responsible for the complete care and management of the day-to-day work done by the corporation. Any policy that has been decided, it is the approval of this committee to execute it finally. Along with this, the final approval is given by this committee for the financial approval of all the projects that the Municipal Corporation considers necessary.
