On November 2, the results of the by-elections were declared across the country, if this by-election caused the most damage to any party, it was the BJP. The Congress, led by Jai Ram Thakur, was badly defeated by the Congress in Himachal Pradesh, with one Lok Sabha seat and the BJP not winning a single one out of three assembly seats.
Since then the discussion has started whether there will be a repetition in Himachal like Gujarat and Uttarakhand. Questions have started being raised on the leadership of Jai Ram Thakur inside the BJP party, many leaders have started demanding change of leadership. BJP had won the Mandi Lok Sabha seat by more than 4 lakh votes in 2019 but failed to save the seat in the by-elections held within two years, which is a matter of concern for BJP and Jai Ram Thakur.
After the defeat, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the reason behind the party’s defeat is inflation and lack of full cooperation of the party leaders. It is a matter of thinking for Jai Ram Thakur as to how his hold in his home area Mandi weakened. In the two assembly seats falling in Mandi, BJP candidates fail to save even their deposits, let alone talk of gains. Assembly elections are going to be held next year, if this situation does not improve then it will be very difficult for BJP to win.

According to the information, the BJP headquarters in Delhi can take some important decisions for the politics of Himachal Pradesh so that the voices rising inside the party can be pacified. It is being speculated that instead of Jai Ram Thakur, the BJP headquarters can hand over the command of Himachal Pradesh to another clean image minister.
Apart from Jai Ram Thakur, the name of Virendra Kanwar is coming up in Himachal Pradesh. Virendra Kanwar, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj in the state government of Himachal, is one such candidate whom BJP can make as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Virendra Kanwar is the only minister in Himachal’s government, on whom there is no dispute, in such a situation, he is seen as a candidate before becoming the Chief Minister. Virendra Kanwar had decided to give up his seat for Dhumal in the assembly elections, for which he was highly appreciated.
