Patna . Bihar government has made the caste census report public. According to the caste census data released by the government, the total population of Bihar is 13 crore 7 lakh 25 thousand 310. According to the caste census data, the population of Extremely Backward – 36 percent, Backward Class – 27 percent, Scheduled Caste – 19 percent and Scheduled Tribe is 1.68 percent.
Government released caste census, total population is more than 13 crores
According to the caste census released by the Bihar government, the number of upper castes in Bihar is 15.52 percent. In which Bhumihar population is 2.86 percent, Brahmin population is 3.66 percent, Rajput population is 3.45 percent. While the population of Kurmi is 2.87 percent, the population of Musahar is 3 percent, the population of Yadavs is 14 percent.

The total population in the census is stated to be more than 13 crores. Among these, the population of Hindu community is 81.9 percent, Muslim population is 17.7 percent, Christian 0.05 percent, Sikh- 0.01 percent, Buddhist 0.08 percent, Jain 0.0096 percent and the population of people of other religions is 0.12 percent. Out of a population of more than 13 crores, the population of Hindus is 10.07 crores and Muslims are 2.31 crores.
In Bihar, it was agreed to conduct caste census with the consent of all the parties. After the consent of all the parties, the proposal was passed by both the houses of the legislature.
After the refusal of the Central Government, the Bihar government started the work of caste census on its own but there was a lot of uproar in Bihar regarding the caste based census. The matter reached from the High Court to the Supreme Court. However, later after getting the green signal from the Supreme Court, the caste census work was completed in two phases.
After the completion of the caste census, the opposition parties were continuously demanding the government to make the caste census report public. Finally, Nitish government made the caste census data public on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October.
