Ghosi seat of Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh By-election is also being held today on Ghosi seat, one of the popular seats. Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Dara Singh Chauhan had resigned from this seat in July, after which this seat became vacant. Dara Singh joined BJP instead of SP. He is now once again contesting the elections on a BJP ticket. He is being opposed by SP candidate Sudhakar Singh, who is supported by the Left and Congress.
Bageshwar seat of Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand The ruling party BJP and the opposition Congress are once again face to face in the by-election being held on the Bageshwar assembly seat. This seat was vacant after the death of Chandan Ramdas, former minister in BJP and Dhami cabinet. He died in April due to illness. BJP has given ticket to Chandan Ramdas’s wife Parvati Das from this seat, while Basant Kumar is in the fray from Congress’s side.
By-elections in Bengal and Kerala as well
Three political parties TMC, BJP and Congress are contesting from Dhupguri seat of West Bengal. TMC had won this seat in 2016. But in 2021, BJP had captured this seat. Whereas, if we talk about Kerala, Congress and Left are face to face in Puthupalli seat. This seat became vacant after the death of Congress leader and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Now Congress has given ticket to Oommen Chandy’s son from here.
By-elections on two seats of Tripura
Bypolls are being held on two assembly seats in Tripura. There is a direct contest between BJP and CPI(M) in Boxanagar and Dhanpur districts. Both these districts share a border with Bangladesh on one side. The international border here is closed due to the by-elections. In Boxnagar constituency, BJP candidate Tafazzal Hussain is facing CPI(M) candidate Mizan Hussain. Muslim-dominated Boxanagar is still considered a strong stronghold of the Left party. On the other hand, the contest from Dhanpur seat is between BJP’s Bindu Debnath and CPI(M)’s Kaushik Debnath.
Dumri seat of Jharkhand
Jharkhand In Dumri, Baby Devi of ‘India’ Alliance and Yashoda Devi of NDA are in direct contest. Before the elections, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) had claimed that the alliance of opposition parties would win the seat and India Alliance would start its campaign to win from Dumri, while the NDA expressed confidence that it would win the seat.
