Amarinder and Channi are determined to increase the jurisdiction of BSF, while supporting the Captain said - the country will be strong

Tension has started once again in the politics of Punjab. This time the new Chief Minister of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi and former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh are face to face. Both are taking different views on expanding the scope of BSF. CM Channi has raised questions on the Modi government regarding this issue, while Captain Amarinder Singh has expressed his support on this. At the same time, other political parties have also broken up in the matter.

‘Our soldiers are being killed in Kashmir. We’re seeing more & more weapons & drugs being pushed by Pak-backed terrorists into Punjab. BSF’s enhanced presence & powers will only make us stronger. Let’s not drag central armed forces into politics’: capt_amarinder 1/2

    Amarinder supported the decision

The BSF’s jurisdiction in Punjab has been increased from 15 km to 50 km. Protests have been taking place in Punjab continuously since the verdict. Everyone is interpreting this decision differently. According to the new directive, the BSF, which was empowered to operate up to 15 km only in the states of Punjab, West Bengal and Assam, is now authorized to extend its jurisdiction up to 50 km without any obstruction or further permission. Under this, the BSF has now been empowered to conduct searches, arrest suspects and make seizures. Supporting the decision, Captain Amarinder Singh wrote – Only the increased presence and powers of the BSF will make the country stronger. Do not drag the Central Armed Forces into politics.

    CM Channi protested

Captain’s message was posted on Twitter by his media advisor Raveen Thukral. He wrote – Our soldiers are being killed in Kashmir. We are seeing more and more arms and narcotics being pushed into Punjab by Pakistan-backed terrorists. Partisan views cannot and should not determine our stance on issues of national security. Opposing the decision, CM Channi said – This decision of the central government is a direct attack on the federal structure. The decision to give power to BSF to act up to 50 km is irrational. I request Home Minister Amit Shah to withdraw this decision.
