The incident that took place on Sunday in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh is taking a political form. The opposition is attacking the Yogi government over the death of 8 farmers. Many opposition are trying to reach Lakhimpur Kheri but citing security reasons the state government is not allowing anyone to reach the spot. On the other hand, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav had announced to come to Lakhimpur Kheri, condemning the incident. Akhilesh Yadav was on his way to leave for Lakhimpur Kheri, when the police took Akhilesh Yadav into custody outside his residence. After being stopped, Akhilesh Yadav and SP workers are staging a sit-in.
What is the government trying to hide
Akhilesh said in one of his statements that farmers are being oppressed more than the British. The current government can kill anyone. Our voice is being suppressed. He said that the kind of atrocities this government is committing on the farmers, even the British do not commit such atrocities. Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra and Deputy CM (Keshav Prasad Maurya) should resign. Two crore rupees and government jobs should be given to the families of the farmers who died. The government does not want any political leader to go there. What is the government hiding?

Congress leader Kapil Sibal on Lakhimpur Kheri violence case: As a citizen, I feel there should be a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge. Earlier, the Union Minister should be sacked or suspended, at least during the investigation as this incident happened in relation to his convoy.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi had also announced to come to Lakhimpur Kheri today. But it is being said that he too has been arrested by the police.
