Najibabad, On the occasion of Basoda festival, which comes a week after Holi, after worshiping Sheetla Mata, women offered raw milk, cold water, stale puri and puda to Sheetla Mata in the city and nearby areas, with the wishes of their families being healthy. .
On Tuesday, women worshiped Sheetla Mata at the Sheetla Mata Temple located in Mohalla Santomalan, Basanti Mata, Tila Mandir, village Kotkadar of the city and prayed for the health of their family.
It is notable that a week after Holi, Basoda i.e. Sheetla Mata is worshipped. It is a belief that by worshiping Sheetla Mata, all sorrows and pains go away. Women worship Sheetla Mata by eating stale food. Poove, Halwa, Puri, etc. are offered to the mother during worship. Long queues start outside the temple from 4 in the morning to offer prayers. It is also believed that Sheetla Mata is worshiped only with cold food. On this occasion, trees are planted around the temples. In which stalls of Chaat, Pakori, Tikki, Kulfi Faluda, children’s sports toys etc. were set up. On which women and children did a lot of shopping and also enjoyed eating a lot.
Famous story teller Pandit Harshvardhan Sharma told that this festival is organized to welcome the new season when the season changes. He told that when the season changes, he starts suffering from many diseases. After the end of winter, the reason for the onset of summer is that the system of catering starts deteriorating soon and if we eat them in such a situation, then our health can be harmed. For this reason, on this day of the year, cook stale food and worship the mother with it, it is resolved to give up stale food from today. Companion is also wished for protection from diseases caused by change of seasons.
