world suffering from global warming
Moscow (EMS). Siberia is the coldest city in the world and is known for its harsh winter climate, but this year has broken all heat records. Russia is currently facing the hottest heat wave. It had never been so hot before. Meteorologists told the media on Thursday that on June 3, the hottest day in history was recorded in Zalturovsk in Siberia, where the temperature reached 37.9 degrees Celsius. The mercury soared to 39.6 degrees in Bevo and 38.5 degrees in Barnaul, breaking several heat records on Wednesday. Some of these stations have temperature records of 5 to 7 decades. This is really extraordinary. It is the worst heat wave in the region’s history.
According to media reports, the temperature again reached 40 degree Celsius on Thursday. According to an analysis by a team of international scientists, the temperature in the Siberian city of Verkhoyansk reached 38 degrees Celsius during a heat wave in 2020. This is almost impossible without climate change. Omar Badour, head of climate monitoring and policy services at the World Meteorological Organisation, told the media that Siberia is one of the fastest warming regions on Earth.
Samantha Burgess, deputy director of the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service, said the region had seen some heat waves. He told the media that this heat wave has a big impact on people and nature and unless we cut the emissions of green house gases fast, this heat wave will continue to increase again and again. Not only in Siberia, record heat is being seen in many places. On Wednesday, 45 degrees Celsius was recorded in China, 43 degrees Celsius in Uzbekistan and 41 degrees Celsius in Kazakhstan.
