Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) BPS Parihar said, “When a knife-wielding miscreant was pulling her mangalsutra from the neck of Poornima Vaidya in Annapurna area on Saturday morning, she held her mangalsutra tightly.” On this, the miscreant attacked the woman with a knife, snatched the mangalsutra and ran away.” He said that even after being injured, the woman showed great courage and ran after the miscreant, but she could not catch him. The ACP said that Another miscreant was involved in the incident who pulled the mangalsutra from the neck of one of her friends who had gone for morning walk with Vaidya.
The woman said – did not get a chance to recover
Meanwhile, Vaidya said that during the struggle with the miscreant, he suffered injuries on both his hands, one of which has a deep knife wound. The 50-year-old housewife said, “The incident happened so quickly that I did not get a chance to recover. But I tried my best to save my mangalsutra and nab the miscreant.” Vaidya said the police should increase security in the Annapurna area during morning hours as many women like her go for morning walk.

Annapurna police station in-charge Gopal Parmar said that two local miscreants were arrested on Monday for their involvement in the robbery of mangalsutras from women.
