On July 28 itself, it was decided from the Center to return him to UP. There was a lot of speculation about his new posting in the bureaucracy of UP that on Monday the news of his taking VRS came. In just one week, three IAS officers of UP cadre have applied for VRS.

Renuka was posted as Secretary in the Government of India. The post of Secretary in the Government of India is of the rank of Chief Secretary, so on his return to UP, he would have been made Additional Chief Secretary of a department, which would have been smaller than his responsibility at the Centre. The tenure of Chief Secretary Durgashankar Mishra is till December 31, 2022, so he may have to wait a long time to become the Chief Secretary in UP. Renuka Kumar, a 1987 batch IAS officer, is counted among the favorite officers of the Yogi government. After going on central deputation, Renuka Kumar was posted as Secretary in important department like Ministry of Minority Welfare. Before going on central deputation in June 2021, Renuka was posted in several important posts in the Yogi government. He had the responsibility of important departments like Basic Education and Revenue. Three officers applied for VRS in a week
Within a week, three IAS officers have applied for VRS. There are two officers in this, who are posted on central deputation and both are officers of the rank of secretary. Apart from Renuka, 1988 batch IAS officer Juthika Patankar was also posted as Secretary in the Central Information Commission. Both the women officers have applied for VRS citing family reasons. Apart from this, 2003 batch IAS officer Vikas Gothalwal has applied for VRS citing health reasons. Vikas Gothalwal is on study leave.
