Elections can be held in 5 to 8 phases, central forces will come on January 10
According to the information received so far, this time elections can be conducted in five to eight phases. Election dates can be announced within three to four days. UP Police has also started gearing up for the elections. To give the message of making the elections fair and peaceful, 150 companies of central forces will come to the state on January 10. The UP Police along with the central forces will start the process of area domination and flag march keeping in mind the sensitive and vulnerable areas.

In the 150 force, there will be 50 companies of CRPF, 30 companies of BSF, 30 companies of SSB, 20 companies of CISF and 20 companies of ITBP. Companies of these forces have been allocated in 75 districts and three commissionerates as per their sensitivity and need.

Of the 150 companies of central forces received from the center, the maximum four companies have been given to Prayagraj. This is followed by Agra, Aligarh, Pratapgarh, Bareilly, Moradabad, Mathura, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Etah, Fatehpur, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Rampur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Bahraich, Kannauj, Jhansi, Hardoi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Noida Commissionerate, Chandauli, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Mau, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Barabanki, Etawah, Bijnor have been given two companies each, while the rest of the districts have been given one company each.
Elections were held in seven phases in 2017
General elections to the 17th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh were held in seven phases from 11 February to 8 March 2017. The voting percentage in these elections was around 61%. The Bharatiya Janata Party secured a three-fourth majority by winning 312 seats, while the ruling Samajwadi Party alliance had to be content with 54 seats and the Bahujan Samaj Party with 19 seats.

Yogi Adityanath was elected as the UP CM after the BJP Legislature Party meeting on 18 March 2017. BJP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma were appointed as deputy chief ministers. Yogi Adityanath took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 19 March 2017.
First phase 11 February: In this phase, 75 seats were elected in 15 districts Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Agra, Firozabad, Etah and Kasganj.
Second phase February 15: Polling was held in 67 seats in 11 districts of Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Sambhal, Rampur, Bareilly, Amroha, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur and Badaun.
Third phase February 19: Voting took place in 69 seats in 12 districts of Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki and Sitapur.
Fourth phase 23 February: Voting was held in 53 seats in 12 districts Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Allahabad, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur and Rae Bareli.
Fifth phase February 27: Voting took place in 52 seats in 11 districts Balrampur, Gonda, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Bahraich, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Amethi and Sultanpur.
Sixth Phase 4 March: Elections were held on 49 seats in 7 districts of Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau and Ballia.
Seventh Phase 8 March: This was the last phase and voting took place in 40 seats in 7 districts of Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Sonbhadra and Jaunpur.
