Mehbooba said the BJP and its allies were obstructing the case filed in the apex court to restore the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
He reiterated his call for a peaceful struggle for restoration of “snatched rights” and said that the incident of August 5, 2019 was like an earthquake and its tremors are still being felt and the government tells us something or the other every day. snatching away.
The PAGD, a coalition of six parties including National Conference, PDP and CPI(M), is demanding restoration of special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The Narendra Modi government on August 5, 2019, revoked most of the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution, withdrew the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. This decision of the government was challenged by many parties in the Supreme Court.
Addressing a party function at Surankote in Poonch district, Mehbooba said, “Whether we fight united or fight separately, you have to vote for those who don’t betray your vote in the assembly. I request you to take this message to every nook and corner that we have to choose one of the PAGD constituents and vote for their candidates.
He said attempts are being made to divide people and the interim report of the Delimitation Commission is part of the process of pitting Hindus versus Muslims, Muslims versus Muslims, Gujjars versus Pahari speaking people and one versus the other.
He said the aim of these efforts is to get enough seats for the BJP and its people so that they can dilute “our case in the Supreme Court” against the August 5, 2019 judgment by forming the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba said that the decision of August 5, 2019 was like an earthquake for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said, “The earthquake ends in a few minutes but we are still feeling the tremors. To destroy our identity, culture and traditions, they are still snatching something from us every day. They are forcibly snatching land from the people.
