Even after Garhmukteshwar accident after accident, people send their children to school on such vehicles, which are carrying more passengers than their capacity. School e-rickshaws are so full of children that the driver has to turn the handle. I have a problem. E-rickshaws and school vans are plying with more children than their capacity, but still the authorities are shying away from taking action. Apart from registered vehicles, unregistered vehicles are also playing with the lives of children by plying on the roads.
The important thing is that the authorities took action when the buses were not fit, but did not think about e-rickshaws at all. E-rickshaws are being run with more passengers than their capacity. School operators make so many children ride on e-rickshaws that there is not even enough space to sit. Children are made to sit on the driver’s seat. Security is being played with by making 10 to 12 children sit on a rickshaw with eight passengers.

11 passengers on e-rickshaw, it is difficult to turn the handle
How much playing with the lives of school children can be seen during the school holidays. Children are being made to sit on e-rickshaws beyond their capacity. Instead of seating six passengers on the rear seats, eight children each are seated. In some e-rickshaws, along with making the children sit on the seats, children are also made to stand. Apart from this, two children can also be seen sitting with the driver. Due to two children sitting, the driver faces difficulty even in turning the handle.

Rickshaws not covered, there is a possibility of accident

Most of the school e-rickshaws operating in the district are not covered. Only nominal e-rickshaws plying on the roads must be fully meeting the safety standards. There is also a possibility of children falling due to fully open e-rickshaws. The possibility of an accident involving children on these rickshaws cannot be ruled out.

messing with the norms by adding extra seats
School operators have installed extra seats in e-rickshaws, through which e-rickshaws are being run by seating more children than their capacity. This is not being taken care of by the responsible authorities. On the other hand, parents are also sending their children on these e-rickshaws without caring for the safety of the children. Due to having more children, there is a possibility of overturning of e-rickshaws.

There is no provision for running e-rickshaws in the school. Only the parents are sending the children on e-rickshaws. It is wrong for children to sit on the driver’s seat. Strict action will be taken against such e-rickshaws and they will be stopped. Action will be taken by running the campaign after two days. -Ashutosh Upadhyay ARTO
