    Thousands of people will gather in the mahapanchayat of farmers in Ramlila Maidan, see traffic advisory to avoid jam

    New Delhi : Farmers from different states will gather at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. These farmers will participate in the Kisan Mahapanchayat to be held in the capital. In view of this, Delhi Police will deploy about two thousand security personnel on Monday. The officers provided this information. Police said on Sunday that elaborate security preparations have been made for the smooth conduct of the programme. A senior police officer said, ‘We have made elaborate security arrangements for the Kisan Mahapanchayat. We will ensure the safety and security of the people. “We will deploy more than 2,000 jawans to ensure peaceful conduct of the program and ensure law and order,” he said.

    Delhi Traffic Police informed that police personnel will be deployed for crowd management and ensure that no unauthorized person enters which could lead to law and order situation. In the advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police, it was said that about 15 to 20 thousand people are likely to participate in the mahapanchayat. People are likely to reach Ramlila Maidan from Sunday night itself.

    People and motorists are advised to avoid traveling around Ramlila Maidan, especially on JLN Marg between Delhi Gate to Ajmeri Gate Chowk, a traffic police official said. The SKM, a joint platform of various farmers’ organisations, said on Sunday that the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ has been called to press for the legal guarantee of the minimum support price (MSP) of agricultural products. The statement claimed that lakhs of farmers have traveled to Delhi from various states and union territories to attend the programme.

    Delhi Traffic Police has set up diversion points at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Marg, Delhi Gate, JLN Marg, Minto Road, Kamla Market Roundabout, Ajmeri Gate, Bhavbhuti Marg, Chaman Lal Marg and Paharganj Chowk. Apart from this, traffic will be restricted from Ranjit Singh Flyover to Barankhabha Road to Gurunanak Chowk, Minto Road to Kamla Market, Vivekananda Marg and JLN Marg at 9 am. Traffic Police has asked people going to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, Nizamuddin Railway Station to take extra time from home.
