Summer action plan of power companies
To meet the power demand in summer, BSES has arranged 1500 MW of green energy. This includes the company getting 888 MW from Solar Energy Corporation of India, 486 MW from wind power and 40 MW from waste. Apart from this, about 130 MW of electricity will be available from the solar power plants set up by BSES. For long term, the power company has arranged 630 MW power through power backing. Power will be taken from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand under power banking.
According to officials of Tata Power (DDL), which supplies electricity to North and Outer Delhi, the maximum power demand of 2028 MW was recorded in North and Outer Delhi last year. It is estimated that the power demand in the summer peak season this year could reach around 2320 MW, which would be around 292 MW more than last year. To meet the maximum power demand, the company has arranged about 2500 MW power through power banking and other sources.
