Process of collecting EVMs continued till early morning
Bhopal (EMS). After voting in all the seven assembly constituencies in the capital, the presiding officer reached Lal Parade Ground with EVM machines by 3 o’clock in the night. Arrangements were made to deposit the EVM machines assembly wise at the Lal Parade Ground, which arrived amid tight security. So that the polling parties do not face any kind of problem. The process of collecting the machines continued till early Saturday morning. After depositing the material, the polling staff left for their homes heaving a sigh of relief. After this, the EVM machines have been kept safe in the strong room.
The EVMs of three constituencies were kept till 7 am on Saturday morning while the EVMs of the remaining constituencies were kept till after 10 am. During this entire time, Collector Ashish Singh, Corporation Commissioner Noble Fenk A, ADM Prakash Singh Chauhan, Deputy Election Officer Ravi Shankar Rai and other officers were present.
The decision of victory and defeat of the new government as well as all the candidates contesting the elections is captured in these EVMs. For the safety of EVMs, a tight triple layer security cordon has been installed outside the strong room. According to the information, the strong room full of EVMs will remain under three-tier security cordon for the next 15 days, which will be monitored round the clock through CCTV along with the deployment of 200 personnel of paramilitary force and district police. All the EVMs brought from the polling booths of the assembly constituency have been kept in the strongroom built in the old jail located in Arera Hills. During this period, election observers and election officials are continuously conducting surprise inspections and taking stock of the arrangements.
