Lucknow. The Women’s Reservation Bill was pending for the last 27 years and was discussed in the Union Cabinet meeting. According to media reports, Modi Cabinet has approved the Women’s Reservation Bill. BSP supremo Mayawati said that we support the women’s reservation bill. He said that in this, separate quota should be set for women of SC-ST and OBC communities.
BSP supremo Mayawati and SP President Akhilesh Yadav have supported the bill presented in Parliament regarding women’s reservation but have put a condition. Mayawati said that the Central Government is going to bring a bill in the Parliament to give reservation to women on 33 percent seats in the Lok Sabha and State Assembly. We support it.
He said that considering the number of women, even if the percentage of reservation had been 50 instead of 33, we would have supported it. It is expected that this will be discussed in Parliament. He said that under this, BSP demands implementation of separate quota for women belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe. After this bill is passed by the Parliament, 33 percent seats will be reserved for women members in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
At the same time, SP President Akhilesh Yadav said that there should be a balance of gender justice and social justice in women’s reservation. In this, reservation for women from backward, Dalit, minority, tribal (PDA) communities should be clear in definite percentage form.
