Strange case: bride asked for dowry, groom did not give, then broke the marriage

Hyderabad (EMS). A strange incident has come to light in Hyderabad. Here a girl refused to marry just because she did not get the dowry amount she had asked for from the groom’s family. According to media reports, there is a special kind of tradition among the tribals living in Telangana. Here people from the groom’s side only take dowry but the girls also ask for dowry. This custom is called reverse dowry or reverse dowry. The same thing happened in this marriage too. The bride demanded two lakh rupees in dowry from the groom of her tribe. The groom’s family also agreed to this and gave him money for the wedding.

The groom’s family had made all preparations for the wedding to be held on March 9 on the outskirts of Hyderabad, but the bride did not reach the wedding hall at the last moment. When the bride and her family did not turn up at the wedding hall, the groom’s family reached the place where the bride and her family were staying. When he enquired, the bride’s family members said that the girl wanted more dowry, only then she would agree to the marriage. The boys were surprised to hear this. The groom’s family then contacted the police and the bride’s family was called to discuss the matter. Since the bride was firm on her decision, two lakh rupees were also returned. The marriage was annulled and both the families parted amicably. Police said that the marriage was canceled after the consent of both the families. No one was arrested. From the investigation so far, it has come to know that perhaps the girl was not interested in this marriage.
