The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is going to start a new initiative to increase the curiosity and passion among people towards space. ISRO, like the US space agency NASA, is preparing to market a range of space-feeling consumer-products. This will increase the interest of children, students and general public towards space related activities.
ISRO has tied up with many companies to give a concrete shape to this campaign. These companies will speed up this mission of ISRO by making stuff related to space related symbols and other aspects. In this regard, agreements have been signed with eight companies so far. Prominent amongst the signing units are Indic Inspirations in Pune, 1947 Ind in Bangalore and Ankur Hobby Center in Ahmedabad.
Signing the MoU, kept these conditions
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by ISRO with these companies, it will provide themes, drawings, photographs and other such items to these companies and on the basis of this, the companies will prepare merchandise. In the MOU, ISRO has also placed a condition that the material provided by it should not be used in any way in a way that would harm its dignity.
In this context, the list of samples prepared by ISRO will be made available to the registered companies soon. In this, ISRO has clarified in its terms that these companies should refrain from using its materials and symbols on products like doormats and slippers. There will be a special focus on 3D and 2D drawings such as scaled models, Lego sets, jigsaw puzzles. So that ISRO’s capabilities can be leveraged as expected. ISRO has also asked these companies to keep the price of their products within reasonable limits, as ISRO is not charging them any fee for the use of its brand.
ISRO has stepped in this path only after several companies showed interest in manufacturing such material. It is hoped that through these products, the interest of students and general public will increase about the space.
