New Delhi (EMS). The South African country Zimbabwe ranks first in the list of the world’s worst countries. According to media reports, in the Annual Misery Index of well-known economist Steve Hanke, it is written that Zimbabwe is economically the worst country in the world, where most people are unhappy.
The situation in Zimbabwe is worse than in war-torn Ukraine, Syria and Sudan. Zimbabwe is plagued by skyrocketing inflation, which reached 243.8 percent last year. Steve Hanke has also blamed the policies of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ruling party ZANU-PF for the plight of the country. The basis of Hanke’s report is determined by economic conditions.
157 countries have been analyzed in this ranking. Hanke calculated the 2022 ranking of Hanke’s Annual Misery Index, taking into account factors such as unemployment, inflation, bank-lending rates and percentage changes in GDP. After Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Argentina, Yemen, Ukraine, Cuba, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Haiti, Angola, Tonga and Ghana are included in the top-15 in the index. The name of India has also been included in this index. India has been placed at 103 rank in the index. India ranks better than countries like Brazil (Rank 27), Pakistan (Rank 35), Nepal (Rank 63) and Sweden (Rank 88).
