Special Correspondent, New Delhi: It has been only 3 days since the repair work of Chirag Delhi flyover on Outer Ring Road started, but due to this the traffic has become bad. Due to the traffic diversion, not only on Outer Ring Road, but also on Joseph Broz Tito Marg and Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, there is heavy jam. Its effect is being seen on Press Enclave Road and from Lala Lajpat Rai Marg to MB Road. Despite lakhs of efforts of traffic police and PWD, there was no visible improvement in the situation. Taking cognizance of the situation, PWD Minister Atishi herself held a meeting with the officials of the Public Works Department on Tuesday. Atishi has instructed the officials that the maintenance work should be done at double the speed and instead of 50 the work should be completed within 30 days.

She has told the officials that now she herself will review the progress of the maintenance work of the flyover on a daily basis. For this, he has also instructed the officers to provide daily progress reports. Along with this, people passing through this flyover have been asked to give maximum information about alternative routes through various media, so that people can be saved from trouble. Atishi said that the PWD had set a target of completing the work in 50 days, but in view of the problems faced by the people, they have asked to complete the work within a month by doing it at double the speed.

The meeting also discussed about removal of ban on movement of heavy vehicles on the newly constructed Ashram-DND Extension flyover. Officials said that the movement of heavy vehicles has been restricted as of now due to high tension electric wires passing over a portion of the flyover. Atishi also directed the officials to complete the shifting work of these wires within this month.
